Editorial Assistant

 

Key Responsibilities

 

• Support and assist the News Editor with the administrative aspects of the Editorial  department

• Production and ongoing maintenance of staff rosters; incorporating holiday and other leave entitlements.

• Maintaining filing and archive systems

• Processing staff expenses in accordance with the company travel and expenses policy

• Processing invoices for payment to contributors

• Maintaining stationery supplies

• Following up on Booking travel accommodation

• Other ad hoc duties

 

Essential Skills / Experience Required

 

• Excel skills are required for the role​Excellent written & verbal communication skills are essential for this role

• Exemplary organisational skills and administration skills

• Ability to prioritise workload

• High attention to detail.

       

Should demonstrate an energetic, self- motivated approach to their work, with lots of initiative and a confident manner.

Profile

The role requires a journalist who can write punchy, eye-catching headlines – equally adept at covering

witty and serious news stories, as well as showbiz, fashion and lifestyle.
 
The role requires an ability to come up with and contribute to layout ideas, combining pictures, video

and graphics with inspiring headlines.
 

Applicants must be able to deliver vibrant, clean copy to very tight deadlines.

 

Essential skills / knowledge

 

• Ability to generate engaging, bespoke content for social platforms

• Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop 

• Significant newsroom, magazine and/or blogging experience

• Keen eye for photographs

• An eye for visual design and layout and advantage

• Ability to write strong headlines

• Flexibility regarding working patterns

• Working knowledge of Wordpress
